The Giant Swallowtail presented photographing problems in that its forewings never stopped moving, even while it was sitting on the flowers. The rear wings would remain stationary but the forewings were constantly fluttering as if it was flying.

1) These are amazing--even more so for the difficulty of capturing the detail with the wings in motion. All three photos are incredible in color and design. I never really paid attention to the different coloring on top and below with butterflies until you came along and showed them more careful and so beautifully. Thanks!
