Tripp's First Visit to the US
Horray! We got Tripp's birth certificate in the mail earlier in the week (although it isn't the correct one to have him become a US citizen... had to reorder). We decided to try and cross the border with him on Saturday to do a little fall shopping at the outlets in Niagara Falls. The weather was colder up here a few days this week, but now it is back up to a steamy 80 degrees. He needed some more clothes for fall and I needed a few things since nothing fits me yet. Roger even needed a few things.
So, we set off on Saturday around 12:30. There was so much traffic that we didn't arrive in Niagara Falls until 4:30 or so. Tripp was quite the trooper. He slept most of the way there. We stopped at Wendy's once to eat a late lunch and fed him too. The outlets were way crowded, but we got in and got what we needed and then got out!
Poor thing was tired since he wouldn't sleep once we were shopping. He started to fuss, but fell asleep once we were on our next leg of the trip... to Babies R Us. I couldn't find the Mylicon Gas Drops anywhere in Toronto... Babies R Us, the grocery store, the drugstore, etc. So, I told Roger that I needed to get some and wasn't leaving until we found them. So, we went to BRU and got them along with a new Moose toy for Tripp.
We stopped at Panera for a quick dinner and headed back to Toronto. We didn't get in until 11:00 on Saturday night. We thought that we might be in for big time trouble with Tripp and sleeping that night. We brought him up, put him in the crib unswaddled, and didn't change him into his pajamas (for fear of waking him up). His eyes opened as soon as we put him down, but they shut again and he was off to sleep. He woke up at his normal times (which have adjusted since he is going to sleep much earlier). All in all, not a bad trip.
The good news is that we know we can get him across the border. Yeah! So, the trip in October is on! We just need to determine when we are coming and bringing the little guy. We also found out that he is pretty good in the car. This was his longest trip by far. Good job, Tripp!
