I *heart* PEANUT BUTTER & CHOCOLATE

Seriously. It's a drug. It's bliss to me.

We just moved to Germantown, WI a few weeks ago and between the new baby and thousands of boxes, we're still trying to get acclimated to our new town. It's only about 10 miles from where we lived prior, but it's a world away in so many aspects. Definitely more small town and I love it.

There's a cute little bakery I pass every morning and decided to stop in today. I still haven't figured out if it was a good or a bad thing that I did. While I now know where to stop for any treats, I also know I will not lose anymore baby weight if I do make any more appearances.

I stumbled upon the Fudge Peanut Butter Brownie. Need I say more?

To my dearest husband (if you're reading this),

You wouldn't like it. I promise. Not even worth thinking about it. :)

8) Breaking out in a sweat just looking at it!Curious, how do they pronounce Germantown-We live about 5 miles from Germantown, NC-the natives pronounce it "Germieton" and I say Germanton.

9) Just like the language then "town" but there are a few places around the city that have the robust German names. I have yet to learn those, unless it's beer, then I know that.

12) What part of WI is Germantown in? We haven't been North this year. I think this delish treat might just be worth the drive. ; D . Oh, and Ames, I'll make Aunt Mary's brownies in the meantime.

13) oohhh yum... but I think now that peanut butter has been suggested we might need to spruce up aunt mary's brownies with some peanut butter topping. She wouldn't mind right?

16) I have a great PB&Chocolate Swirled Brownie recipe if anyone needs one. Put a nice homemade chocolate frosting on it (ONLY with butter!) and you'll have your own version at home. :)

17) LGrant... I'll take that recipe ASAP!

Bill, Glad you agree!

YammaSue,
Germantown is about 15 minutes NW of Milwaukee. You'll run into it if you take Hwy 45 North passed the city.

18) Michelle's Peanut Butter Marbled Brownies
These brownies are mouth-wateringly rich and combine two of the most delicious flavors in the world - chocolate and peanut butter! Prep Time: approx. 20 Minutes. Cook Time: approx. 40 Minutes. Ready in: approx. 1 Hour . Makes 1 - 9x13 inch pan (36 servings).
Printed from Allrecipes, Submitted by Michelle Roy

2 (3 ounce) packages cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup peanut butter (5 oz)
1/4 cup white sugar (1 ¾ oz)
1 egg
2 tablespoons milk

1 cup butter or margarine, melted (2 sticks)
2 cups white sugar (14 oz)
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
3 eggs
3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder (2 ½ oz)
1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour (6 ¼ oz)
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup semisweet chocolate chips (6 oz)

Directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease one 9x13 inch baking pan. In a medium bowl, beat cream cheese, peanut butter, 1/4 cup white sugar, 1 egg, and milk until smooth. Set aside.

In a large bowl, mix together melted butter, 2 cups white sugar, and vanilla. Mix in the remaining 3 eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Combine flour, cocoa, baking powder, and salt; mix into the batter. Stir in chocolate chips.

Remove 1 cup of the chocolate batter. Spread the remaining batter into the prepared pan. Spread the peanut butter filling over the top. Drop the reserved chocolate batter by teaspoonful over the filling. Using a knife, gently swirl through the top layers for a marbled effect. Bake in preheated oven for 35 to 40 minutes, or until a wooden toothpick inserted near the center comes out almost clean. Cool completely, then cut into bars.

20) Glad to help. You don't need to get the 3 oz bars. Just spend less and take 3/4 of a regular 8 oz bar (it's even marked for you). Kaydee wants us all to be smart shoppers. :) You can put the rest on your bagel for breakfast (ok...maybe 2 bagels and 2 mornings). :)

21) Let me know if you want to take it over the top with a good chocolate frosting--I'm sure I have one of those too. :) Or maybe (for me!) even better a nice chocolate ganache. Deep, sweet, smooth and heavenly.

22) Yes, bring on the frosting!!
I made your double chicolate cookie recipe but baked them as bars and not cookies and they were fantastic!! I served them warm with a little vanilla ice cream and hot fudge sauce!!! Wow!! Of course I took out all the calories before serving!!
Thanks for sharing all your wonderful recipes!!

23) Never tried that but I have some toffee-chip bars that are very similar and make an awesome bar. Great thinking! DBCC Bars! I'll have to try that!!

This one sounds relatively easy but I have lots if you prefer one with cocoa or something. :) Glad to be of assistance!!

Best Chocolate Frosting
Recipe courtesy Lynn Kearney for Food Network Kitchens

Yield: enough to frost a 9 inch 2 layer cake

3 ounces unsweetened chocolate
3 tablespoons butter
3 cups confectioners' sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
3 to 8 tablespoons milk

In a double boiler over hot water melt chocolate with the butter. Remove from heat and allow to cool for 5 minutes. In an electric mixer add chocolate mixture and confectioners' sugar. Beat until mixture resembles chalky beads. Add the vanilla and the milk 1 tablespoon at a time until a spreadable consistency is reached. Beat until fluffy -- adding more milk if necessary.

**you could do the chocolate and butter in the microwave--just watch it and don't burn it**

28) LOL...I've made this recipe many times and it's always a hit. One woman tasted them when she sampled another worker's batch and remembered them well when I asked her months later what she would like me to bake for her on a return trip. That's staying power! :)

29) I found a recipe that seems to fit your "chocolate/peanut butter" criteria. Even a store-bought brownie will suffice.
