Canine induced memorial mayhem
So the weekend wasn't the greatest that could be had. I was looking forward to fishing on Saturday but that one got nixed due to Carrie's having a sinus infection and Lucy suffering a cold. A cold wouldn't normally be a problem for an adult but babies don't know how to blow their nose so regular vacuuming of the nasal cavity is a horrendously noisy necessity. Rather than standing in the sunshine all day catching fish, I mostly did chores and help entertain our little munchkin.
Come Sunday evening we decided to watch a movie (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0482463/). This is usually the cue for the phone to ring. Given a choice, mine would be to let it ring and check the message when convenient. If someone really needs to talk urgently then they will call my cell phone or keep calling.....or they might even leave a message which I would hear as it is being left. Anyway, among the phone calls was a request from the mother-in-law to bring over a daiper because there are relatives visiting and they ran out; or forgot. So we stop the movie for the nth time, I grab a daiper, jump in the car, drive past CVS and Walgreens (both of whom sell the darn things) and arrive a few minutes later at a house with a driveway chock-a-block with cars. The house is full of people who could just as easily have driven over to our house to pick up a daiper.
I drive back (past CVS and Walgreens) home so we can continue the movie and I put the kettle on because I fancy a cup of tea. Unusual for me as I pretty much only drink it in the morning and perhaps afternoon. Now we're getting some serious movie watching done, with our little baby girl snuggled up with us on the couch, when the next disturbance involves the arrival of a car in the driveway: Its the sister-in-law and her husband (see "lost ring found blog"). Now, as any dog owner will tell you, a laid back sleepy surreptitious dog, when presented with visitors, suddenly becomes a dancing, bouncing, slobbering dervish with little apparent control over it's motion. Any big dog owner will further tell you that said dog is very much like one of those mustangs or bulls that cowboys try to stay on for 8 seconds....except the tail is like a baseball bat. When this oscillation of destruction comes into contact with a freshly brewed cup of tea, the spillage can be quite awesome. Result = a brown streak longer than a herd of diarrheic camels.

Longer term result = we must get new carpet.....stain resistant carpet. I spent a lot of time and Resolve trying to get the stain out and its just not worth it.....'aint budging.

This is the mugshot.....and the mugshot :-/

You have my sympathy. Our puppy ate granola bars yesterday. (Darn kids kept leaving them around.) Apparently granola bars don't agree with her. I've been scrubbing up poop all day!
as far as i am concerned, there isnt a stain-resistant carpet that will stand up to anything thrown at it, all makes and styles of carpet clean last differently, and with your dog mess, who knows. the only thing stain resistant is a hard surface. Ive cleaned that kind of carpet a few times and it does tend to stain pretty easily (if its the one i am thinking of, its pretty cheaply made, but i could be wrong, is it pretty thin carpet?). anways...
I dont recommend resolve, i just cleaned for a lady yesterday who used that stuff and it bleached her carpet in hundreds of little spots all around the room (shame, cos it was good carpet too). I do recommend calling me out to clean it, I work for ( i dont think i should plug them directly, might be un-professional !) that one nation wide company that uses yellow vans to "get carpet cleaner".. you can ask for me directly to come and clean, they all know me... minimum fee for two rooms is $99.. although i cant say it will come out, i will give it a bloody good run for its money!.. if it CAN come out, i will get it out. it may have stained tho to some degree...
your main issue is going to be staining and odour and bacteria in the pad, that cant be cleaned. if it gets wet it will just keep coming back up. carpet padding is literally a sponge!
Thanks for the essay though Jimbo.
