Crappy Packaging

Why are these packages so bad?

Am I completely retarded or does anybody else have trouble with these?
You're supposed to be able to tear off a perforated strip (so far so good) and then reseal the package after slicing the cheese. This is where the design fails. What amazes me is that it has lasted as long as it has.
Depending on my mood, I can spend about half an hour patiently trying to match the grooves together in order to form that elusive air-tight seal. More often I'll fiddle for a little under 2 minutes before realizing that all my efforts are futile. I don't have any trouble at all with similarly designed sandwich bags or freezer bags so there must be something wrong with these cheese packs, surely!?
Kraft need to get their act together and redesign or cough up and pay ziplock for their design. I'd even settle for whatever design the boffins at Dane's Discount use.

1) It's not just you. These packages are a joke. And by 'joke' I mean 'a disgrace to the human race.'

2) George,
Just eat all the cheese in one sitting. Problem solved.

3) Everytime I "tear here" one part usually tears down to the seal making it nearly impossible to open it up later. This is not the only brand that his this problem. It's an epidemic!

4) You're completely retarded.

Sorry, you walked into that one. As completely retarded people are apt to do. :)

5) I quit trying and just put them in a ziploc-I have the same problem trying to open big bags of dog food and cat litter-I never seem to pull the string right-not retarded just uncoordinated.

6) Our problem is that the cheese sloughs off and then clogs the tracks that should be zipping, so just when we need to keep the cheese fresh (i.e. after we open it) it becomes harder and harder to reseal. I hate when I waste my time on "time savers" that are NOT.

7) Dude! I totally just had this problem like 30 seconds ago with a "resealable" bag of coffee. I like the Ziplocs with the plastic zipper thingie. I think all bags should follow that model.

8) Even if I get one of these packs to work perfectly I still put it in a separate Ziplock (R) bag. I don't trust this seal even on it's best day. I also take my cheese very seriously.
Hey KRAFT, If I'm gonna have to put it in another bag anyway, don't bother.

9) Those bug me Sally. I'm convinced that there must be a tiny hole left, however much you try to tug it shut. For that reason I prefer the standard press together style bags.

Its incredible to me that with all the technology available there are so many poor designs for more mediocre items out there.

10) We sometimes buy the Archer Farms brand of chips from Target. They like to package them in a resealable bag. The problem is, the seal is placed on the front of the bag, a couple of inches from the top. And it doesn't go all the way across. You can barely get your hand in there, and forget about being able to pull out a handful of chips.

I say no more resealable bags. They're all crap. I generally just fold the top over and stick a binder clip on it.

11) Courtney, eat all the chips. Denny has the right idea. If you never have leftovers, you don't have to worry about it. Rip that bag open and finish them off.

12) Here's what I do with an opened bag of chips. Fold over the open top a couple times, then put the bag on the shelf upside down, so that the weight of the bag prevents the flap from unfurling. Totally works, and no clip required.

13) Dude I do the same thing. Geez, I seriously thought I was the only person who did that. I thought I came up with that and I was about to patent it. We are a clip-free household.

14) But then Courtney picks them up and chips go all over the floor...at least that's what happens in Shooland.

15) I love the thing with chips and cereal where you can't get it to open across but it opens wonderful down so chips or cereal explode all over the place. I've learned to avoid the problem with a pair of scissors. And don't get me started on a package of hot dogs (ok...my are tofu but that's neither here or there!) that requires major surgery to get them out of the packaging!

16) That's the way I've been taught how to store chip bags.

17) I'm with Courtney though, those Archer Farms bags are for the birds. Its like weight loss chips or something. You have to dump the bag out to get any and then they crumble. They suck!

18) Mrs. Shoo. No problem there. Finished off a bag of Sun Chips today.

19) I rarely have problems with the resealable bags, but the hubby (Pastafarian) always rips them up completely and ends up putting them in our generic zip bags. If they weren't so danged expensive, I'd take everything that comes in resealable packaging and put it into those Glad Press-N-Seal thingys. Now, that stuff is genius!

21) Folding the top of the bag several times and letting the weight of the bag keep it closed only works so long as the bag has weight. Depending on what is left in the bag, how many times you wrap the top of the bag, how tight those wraps are, and the tendency of the bag material to want to revert to its original shape all contribute to a scenario of non-success with this method.
