Wet Dog
This morning, before I got my breakfast ready, I let Sam out in the garden as per daily routine. Whilst eating my breakfast, I noticed through the window that he had found a pleasing aroma in which he proceeded to roll. Knowing that he would be smelly, I made a mental note to wash him once I got home from work.
Anyone with a dog will know that they aren't terribly fond of baths and I think this must be because they hate nice smells. More specifically, they hate nice flowery/perfumy smells. Of course when you're grilling meat they salivate so some nice smells they do like. We know its not the act of being wet or getting cold because they'll gladly go out in bad weather, get wet and jump in lakes and ponds....especially labradors.
As soon as I touch the leash, Sam goes into a frenzy of excitement and I used this to get him into the back garden where I could wield the hose with abandon. So I put the end of the leash through my belt to keep him from running off leaving me with 2 hands free to soap him up.
Here he is as he realizes that he's been tricked and he's in for a soaking.
Then came the bath followed by lots of shaking and a long walk in the sun to dry him off.

Sam is adorable. I'd go so far as to say he's as cute as my Sam. Say, maybe we should get our Sams together....for a cage match. Two go in, one comes out....
Sally, I'd be happy for you to bring Sam around to meet Sam. Our Sam is very sweet and full of love. The only problem is he has no idea how big and strong he is and sometimes gets rather over-enthusiastic.
He is super cute for a dog but your Sam is a cat and, as such, wins the cuteness competition hands down.
Her reward for this great behavior was playing with the hose after it was all over. She'd race back and forth, chasing it and biting it. We both got our reward. :)
Thanks Leslie, he is indeed a big love. 110lbs of love and slobber is what we tell people. As far as the quality of the picture.....utter fluke. I press the button and there is a delay of a second or two so I just took a couple while he was in his shaking routine and those are the two I got out of pure luck. I'm very pleased though.
